The world record of “largest religious gathering of people at single location” has been achieved by Kumbh Mela held in Allahabad, U.P., India.
Kumbh Mela held in Allahabad from 14th Jan, 2013 to 10th March 2013 holds the record for the Worlld’s Largest Religious gathering. The number of people attending the Kumbh Mela in the year 2013 is more than 80 million. Kumbh Mela is a festival involving mass Hidu pilgrimage. It is held every third year in four different cities in India namely Ujjain, Nashik, Allahabad and Haridwar on a rotational basis. Thus, each of the above mentioned cities gets a chance to host the Kumbh Mela every twelve years.
The World Record of ‘most people dressed as Superman simultaneously’ has been achieved by Nexen from Calgary, Canada.
On 28 September 2011; Nexen: the Canadian energy company organized the event in which Four Hundred Thirty Seven (437) employees of the company took part and dressed as Superman. All these employees stood for 10 minutes to break the record. Each costume had the particular specifications as a whole blue body, red underpants, a S on chest of red and yellow color, a yellow belt and red shoes or boots with cover of red accompanied by a red cape. The company as well as the staff members shared the expenses of the costumes. The name of the event was “Be a superhero and was a drive to create awareness among people in order to explain the importance of charity in life and society. Event was organized for raising funds for a noble cause.
The World Record for the ‘longest single line of dancers’ has been achieved by Walkway Over The Hudson from Poughkeepsie, New York, USA.
On June 13, 2012; Two Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Nine (2,569) participants danced to a rendition of the “Hokey Pokey” created specifically for the event by singer and storyteller Laurie ‘Story Laurie’ McIntosh along with Rosendale musician and producer Dean Jones.
The World Record of “most people wearing tiger mask” has been achieved by Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya from Indore, India.
Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya (Zoo) Indore, MP, India organized a unique activity on 07/10/12 on the concluding day of National Wild Life Week in which 1500 people of all age group wore the mask of Tiger for 10 minutes to spread the message of Save Tiger.
