Longest Bridge Made Out of Plastic Bottles

The World Record of ‘longest bridge made out of plastic bottles’ has been achieved by the City of Ely United Kingdom (UK).

The total length of the bridge was 36 meters (118.10 feet) and was built on river Ouse. The total number of bottles used in the construction of the bridge were Fourteen Thousand One Hundred (14100). They were all plastic milk bottles and were done with the co-operation of St Mary’s Primary School, Ely, the Isle of Ely Explorers at Sutton Gault and Witchford’s Rackham Primary School. The mayor of the city Ron Bradney was the first to cross the bridge. This bridge was a temporary structure and was created in order to create awareness about the need to recycle on the Annual Classic Regatta function of the city in 2008.
